LUKE COMBS NOMINATED FOR BEST NEW ARTIST AT 61ST GRAMMY AWARDS
Luke Combs is nominated for Best New Artist at the 61st GRAMMY Awards. The live awards ceremony will be broadcast on CBS from Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 8:00 pm ET/7:00 pm CT.
The recognition adds to an already monumental year for the breakthrough singer, songwriter and performer, who recently won New Artist of the Year at “The 52nd Annual CMA Awards.” Additionally, Comb’s Platinum-certified debut album, This One’s For You, is Billboard’s Top Country Album of 2018 (River House Artists/Columbia Nashville). Since its release June 2, 2017—79 weeks ago—the album has spent a total of 20 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1, including 16 weeks in 2018—the most of any album this year. The only other country album to achieve 16 weeks at No. 1 in a calendar year is Chris Stapleton’s Traveller. The first four singles—3x Platinum “Hurricane,” 2x Platinum “When It Rains It Pours,” Platinum “One Number Away” and Platinum “She Got The Best of Me”—have all reached No. 1 making Combs the first solo artist to score four consecutive career-opening No. 1’s on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. Moreover, his new single, “Beautiful Crazy,” is the first country single shipped to radio already Platinum-certified since Taylor Swift’s “Red” in 2013.
Combs will embark on his largest North American headline tour in 2019. After selling out the “Beer Never Broke My Heart Tour” spring leg, Combs recently confirmed select summer shows, including Columbia, MD’s Merriweather Post Pavilion, Gilford, NH’s Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion and Alpharetta, GA’s Verizon Amphitheater. Once again, Combs’ official fanclub, The Bootleggers, will have first access to tickets through a Ticketmaster Verified Fan pre-sale, which begins Wednesday (12/12) with general on-sale starting Friday (12/14). For tickets and information, please visit bootleggers.lukecombs.com. See below for complete tour details.
Since the release of This One’s For You, Combs has been named Billboard’s Top 100 Artist and Top New Country Artist of 2017, “Best New Country Artist” at the iHeart Radio Awards, Music Row’s “Breakthrough Artist Of The Year” and 2017 Artist To Watch by Amazon Music, Billboard, Bobby Bones, CMT, HuffPost, Nashville Lifestyles, Pandora and Rolling Stone.
This One’s For You was produced by Scott Moffatt (except for “One Number Away,” which was co-produced by Sammy Mitchell and Jackie Boyz) and recorded in Nashville, TN at Gold Cassette Studios and Direct Image Recording Studio. Released earlier this summer, This One’s For You Too debuted at No. 1 on Billboard Country Albums Chart and No. 4 on Billboard 200 Chart.

“2018 has been a big year” after the “high-energy five-piece band” (Rolling Stone) closed out the first leg of their debut headlining run in front of a sold-out crowd at Nashville’s Cannery Ballroom on Friday (12/7); the same building where they signed their record deal on the spot with Sony Music Nashville six years ago. While “dazzling thousands” (Hits Magazine) the “arena-rock leaning band” (Entertainment Weekly) is “at the top of their game” (Pitchfork) and has rapidly created a loyal fanbase with more than 400 shows as the featured act and with sold-out club runs in major markets such as New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles.
Coincidentally, the hometown show fell nearly a year after the 2x Platinum single “Greatest Love Story” became a multi-week chart topper followed by the release of their No. 1 selling debut album HALLELUJAH NIGHTS. Both pivotal moments were historical in Country music as Lancaster became the first artist in 10 years to have a No. 1 on the chart solely written by that artist while LANCO serves as the first Country group in a decade to appear at the top of the Billboard Country albums chart with a debut album, which now boasts over 423 million streams. “2018’s best Country debut album” (Tampa Bay Times), paved the course for national television performances including The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, TODAY, The Bachelor and Dancing With The Stars. LANCO “won admirers among its peers” (Billboard) as they earned nominations this year from the ACM, CMT, CMA and American Music Awards and Lancaster became the first member of a group to ever win NSAI’s “Songwriter/Artist of the Year.” Their distinct southern storytelling with a modern punch of rock and roll continues to unravel as they head back to the studio with award-winning producer Jay Joyce to begin recording their sophomore album. KANE BROWN ACHIEVES THIRD CONSECUTIVE #1 ON COUNTRY RADIO WITH “LOSE IT”
Breakthrough vocalist Kane Brown celebrates his third career #1 single on country radio this week, with the Gold-certified hit, “Lose It.” Co-written by Brown, Chase McGill and Will Weatherly, “Lose It” is the first single off of Brown’s #1 debuting (Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums charts) sophomore album, Experiment. With the November 9th release of Experiment, the three-time American Music Award winner became the third country artist this year to reach the summit of the Billboard 200 and the only male country artist in 24 years to debut on top of the Billboard 200 with a sophomore release.
“Lose It” follows Brown’s 3X Platinum, multi-week #1 hit, “Heaven,” which was honored this week (12/1) by Variety Magazine as one of the most-streamed songs of the year in all music genres. Both “Heaven” and Brown’s 4X Platinum #1 hit “What Ifs” appear on the breakout star’s 12-week #1 Platinum-certified self-titled debut album.
Two weeks ago, Kane Brown’s “Lose It” dethroned Bebe Rexha and Florida Georia Line’s “Meant To Be” after a record 50 weeks atop the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, a similar feat to when his “What Ifs” featuring Lauren Alaina halted Sam Hunt’s then recorded-setting 34 weeks at #1 with “Body Like A Backroad.” Brown is the first artist to lead the Billboard Hot Country Songs and Top Country Albums charts simultaneously since he did so in October 2017 with “What Ifs” and his debut album.
Brown first took to his Instagram account to thank country radio, his fans and his team for the support of this milestone third #1, adding, “When we were in the studio working on this album, I knew we had songs that I was incredibly proud to put on the record…that felt different, but still said what I wanted to say. ‘Lose It’ was one of the first songs we recorded, over a year ago. I knew I wanted it to be the first single off the record, but never could have predicted the way people have embraced it. Thank you to everyone in country radio, to my fans and my team for all of the support.”
Noted as “one of Nashville’s most promising young stars and also one of its most flexible” (The New York Times) the 25-year-old singer-songwriter continues to earn rave reviews for Experiment.
“(Experiment) channels…musical confidence…it proves why Brown has become one of the genre’s hottest up-and-comers” (Rolling Stone).
“Experiment finds the breakthrough star branching out sonically and lyrically, taking command of his voice, whether bravely facing adversity or expressing …Brown brings a sense of strength to his storytelling,” (Sounds Like Nashville)
“…with his new album, Experiment, Brown is about to become inescapable, arguably changing the future of country forever,” (Billboard).

TENILLE TOWNES SELECTED FOR “OPRY NEXTSTAGE” CAMPAIGN
Tenille Townes has been selected for the inaugural “Opry NextStage” class along with Riley Green, Tegan Marie and Travis Denning. The yearlong campaign in collaboration with Opry Entertainment includes live performances, strategic marketing support and short-form documentary style storytelling created by Opry Entertainment’s award-winning content team. As part of the new collaboration, Townes will perform on the Grand Ole Opry at Ryman Auditorium on December 7.
“Opry NextStage” will officially launch with a kickoff party and concert featuring performances by the inaugural class at Ole Red Nashville on January 8—tickets go on sale this Thursday, November 29 at 10:00AM CST. More info and ticket purchases available here. Watch here to see what fans can expect from “Opry NextStage.”
Last week, Townes’ “My Opry Debut” episode premiered at Billboard featuring clips of her first performance on the historic stage as well as “an emotional mix of the young songstress and her massive support system of 140 family members and friends as they head to the venue.” Watch/sharehere . Additionally, earlier this month, Townes was inducted into CMT’s Next Women of Country class of 2019. Of Townes’ performance at the showcase Rolling Stone Country praised, “the gut wrenching storytelling of Townes, who loads her breed of country with a bit of Ani DiFranco fire…”
The partnerships add to an already exciting 2019, which will see Townes joining Dierks Bentley on his extensive “Burning Man Tour.” The tour features performances across Canada and the U.S., including stops at Vancouver’s Pepsi Live at Rogers Arena, Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and Columbus’ Nationwide Arena among many others. See below for complete details.
The live shows will feature material from Townes’ anticipated forthcoming full-length debut album—produced by Jay Joyce—and set for release in 2019 on Columbia Nashville. Already receiving attention, Townes’ first single, “Somebody’s Daughter,” is out now. Of the song CMT.com praises, “embodies elements of the astute storytelling that Bobbie Gentry mastered in her classic ‘Ode to Billie Joe,’” while Taste of Country proclaims, “her debut single is a life-changer.”
Of the song and video, Townes shares, “It makes me so happy to have this video out in the world, telling a visual story of this song with a message that is so important to me. My hope is for people to feel empowered to recognize those around us. We’ve all got a story and something we’re working through and I believe the little things count. There’s a lot we can learn from a kid at a lemonade stand.”
An alternative acoustic version of the song also appears on Townes’ recently released Living Room Worktapes EP. Released earlier this year to widespread critical acclaim, Rolling Stone calls it, “…a stripped-down introduction to an artist with a whole lot to say,” while Billboard furthers, “Her Living Room Worktapes EP is a piece of art! Her unique voice and storytelling sets her apart…you’ll have it on repeat.” Additionally, Townes is the subject of an in-depth profile at NPR Music’s The Record . Calling her “Nashville’s Newest Voice,” writer Jewly Hight gives a rare glimpse into the early stages of Townes’ burgeoning career and asserts, “…she’s an heir to Twain and Swift, Griffin and McKenna alike, as well as a potential peer to figures like Morris and Musgraves, who’ve built significant followings and visibility with strong, self-written material…” Read the full profile here.
Canadian-born and Nashville-based, Townes first made her public appearance at age nine alongside Shania Twain after being invited to sing on stage at a concert she attended with her parents. In addition to her work as a musician and songwriter, Townes remains committed to charitable causes including her own initiative, Big Hearts For Big Kids, which has raised over $1.5 million to date benefiting a youth shelter in her hometown of Grande Prairie, Alberta.
