MAREN MORRIS’ HISTORY-MAKING “GIRL” REACHES NO. 1
Superstar Maren Morris’ smash single “GIRL” is No. 1 on country radio this week, the first solo song by a woman to top the Billboard Country Airplay Chart since February 2018 and Morris’ third time at No. 1 overall.
Upon its release earlier this year, “GIRL” had the highest debut on Billboard’s Country Streaming Songs chart by a female artist and the highest weekly streams by a female country artist ever. The song is the title track from the multi-Platinum artist’s second album, which shattered the record for the largest-ever debut streaming week for a country album by a woman with 23.96 million streams in its first week. The album debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and continues to receive rave reviews. GIRL is out now via Columbia Nashville.
Morris is currently in the midst of a sold-out world tour, including appearances this weekend at Newport Folk Festival with The Highwomen—her all-star collaboration with Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby and Amanda Shires—and with Dolly Parton and The Highwomen as part of a history-making all women Saturday night headline set, during which Parton congratulated Morris on the No. 1 from stage. GIRL: The World Tour continues this summer, and Morris will support Miranda Lambert on her Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars tour this fall. Visit marenmorris.com for full tour details.
This year Morris received five Grammy nominations including Record of the Year and Pop Duo/Group performance for her massively acclaimed hit “The Middle” with Zedd and Grey, Country Solo Performance, Country Duo/Group Performance and Country Song of the Year. In May, alongside Zedd and Gray she was awarded with a Billboard Music Award for Dance/Electronic Song.
Morris won a Grammy Award for Best Country Solo Performance at the 59th Grammy Awards, was named New Artist of the Year at the 50th Annual CMA Awards, Top Country Female Artist at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards and New Female Vocalist of the Year at the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards. She was also the most played female artist on country radio in 2017 and 2018.
The 29-year-old singer-songwriter from Arlington, Texas got her start playing in bars around her hometown and quickly made a name for herself with her Gold certified debut album Hero and its Platinum-selling “My Church,” Gold-selling “80s Mercedes” and “I Could Use A Love Song.” Hero and its singles topped charts nationwide, set Country radio records, and were some of the most critically acclaimed works of 2016.
Recent critical praise for GIRL:“A Texas songwriter with a sharp eye, a velvet voice and a mean streak…‘GIRL’ sets the bar high right away. It’s the most ambitious and eccentric song she’s done yet, an emotional powerhouse driven by jagged rock guitar.”—Rolling Stone

In addition to Brown’s vocal highlighted on the track, which “shines with his deep twang that is both warm and dangerous,” (Rolling Stone) Brown co-wrote “One Thing Right” with Marshmello, Jesse Frasure, Josh Hoge and Matthew McGinn. After originally meeting at the 2018 American Music Awards, where Brown won three awards (Favorite Male Artist – Country, Favorite Album – Country, and Favorite Song – Country for “Heaven”) and Marshmello took home Best Electronic Dance Artist, the two record-breaking entertainers will bring “One Thing Right” to GMA’s Summer Concert Series on August 30.

Sony Music Nashville announces the signing of Niko Moon to the RCA Nashville imprint, and, instantly provides fans the opportunity to hear his music. An adventurous country entertainer, Moon has an enduring optimism and a flair for challenging boundaries as evidenced by “Good Time” and “Drunk Over You ,” two tracks available now from his forthcoming debut EP.
“I’m so excited to be announcing my partnership with Sony/RCA, CAA and Make Wake/River House today!” says Moon. “Their reputations speak for themselves and their belief in me is truly humbling. I believe that a person is only as strong as the people they surround themselves with, and with this team the sky is the limit!” Due to release later this year, his debut EP will consist of music co-written and co-produced by Niko Moon that embodies the judiciously layered synthesis of his Georgia roots, pairing Atlanta-bred hip-hop and rural-fed traditional country. Moon is a longtime collaborator with fellow Georgian Zac Brown and is credited on five #1 Zac Brown Band hits: “Loving You Easy,” “Homegrown,” “Beautiful Drug” and “Keep Me In Mind” – plus “Heavy Is The Head,” which topped the rock charts with Chris Cornell singing lead. He also co-wrote Rascal Flatts’ hit, “Back To Life.”
A Texas native who relocated to Douglasville, GA at age 10, equidistance from hip-hop hub Atlanta and country breeding ground Newnan, GA (Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt), inspiring Moon’s artful persona: a mix of hooky melodies, shrewd wordplay and edgy, electronic beats. “Good Times” was co-written by Niko Moon, Anna Moon and Josh Murty and “Drunk Over Me,” by the same three co-writers in addition to Jordan Minton and Mark Trussell. Both songs are available at all streaming and digital services.
MARSHMELLO AND KANE BROWN’S “ONE THING RIGHT” MUSIC VIDEO AVAILABLE NOW
Multi-platinum award-winning artist Kane Brown and producer superstar Marshmello officially released their “One Thing Right” music video today. See it now HERE. Brown and Marshmello chatted with his fans on YouTube preceding the clip premiere. The video was directed by Robert Hales and produced by Michelle Larkin. Among the music critics’ “One Thing Right” shout-outs, Rolling Stone raved, “His (Kane’s) partnership with Marshmello has yielded an excellent, tender result. ‘One Thing Right’ is brutally catchy and sees both the singer and producer working to meet in the middle of their own sounds. Marshmello, in particular, tones down his big room EDM predilections to make a more rootsy, guitar-driven base for the song that keeps the tone light and summer BBQ-ready. Brown, on the other hand, shines with his deep twang that is both warm and dangerous as he recites how he found success in love, in spite of his bad boy ways.” Recently announced as the headliner of Staple Center’s 20th Anniversary concert celebration in Los Angeles on October 18, Kane Brown co-wrote “One Thing Right” with Marshmello, Jesse Frasure, Josh Hoge and Matthew McGinn, This Joytime Collective/RCA Nashville collaboration is Marshmello’s first collaboration with a country music artist. The two record-breaking entertainers will bring “One Thing Right” to GMA’s Summer Concert Series on August 30. They originally connected at the 2018 American Music Awards, where Brown won three awards (Favorite Male Artist – Country, Favorite Album – Country, and Favorite Song – Country for “Heaven”) and Marshmello took home Best Electronic Dance Artist. Initially written by Brown for what would become his No. 1 debuting Billboard 200 album, Experiment, “One Thing Right” ended up being an additional track that Brown sent to Marshmello for consideration. |

In 2019, he played “the first-ever in-game concert” inside of Fortnite, which was noted as “revolutionary for the music industry.” Marshmello currently can be found in Las Vegas for an exclusive two-year engagement at KAOS Dayclub and Nightclub at the Palms Casino Resort. His smash hit single, “Happier” with Bastille, topped the charts around the world, with cumulative streams nearing one billion. Certified double platinum in the U.S., “Happier” held the No. 1 position for three consecutive weeks on Billboard’s BDS and Mediabase/Top 40 Radio Airplay chart. Kane Brown continues to “break boundaries” (Associated Press) in the format. The three-time AMA and two-time CMT Music Award winner is currently nominated for two Teen Choice Awards, and is the first artist in Billboard history to Top all 5 Billboard Country charts. With the Platinum certification of “Heaven,” he became one of only five country acts with multiple four-time Platinum hits (joining Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Sam Hunt and Taylor Swift). His sophomore chart-topping album Experiment debuted No. 1 on both the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums chart, becoming the only male country artist in more than 24 years to debut at the top of the Billboard 200, and only one of three country artists to top the Billboard 200 chart in all of 2018. Ranked by The New York Times as one of the Top 10 Best Albums of the Year, Experiment is available HERE. LUKE COMBS JOINS THE GRAND OLE OPRY
Luke Combs was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry family Tuesday night by Opry members Joe Diffie and Vince Gill in front of a sold-out Opry crowd. Combs grew up on Diffie’s hits like “Pick Up Man” and “John Deere Green,” and the first concert he ever attended was Gill’s. After Combs performed his No. 1 smashes “When It Rains It Pours” and “Beer Never Broke My Heart,” Diffie and Gill joined him on stage, also flanked by Opry members The Gatlin Brothers, Chris Janson, Dustin Lynch, Craig Morgan, and Mark Wills.
“This is what dreams are made of right here,” Gill began. Looking to Combs, he added, “If you’ll come here and you’ll invest in the people and this stage, you’ll get back a hundred-fold what you ever give to this place.”
Presenting Combs with his Opry Member Award, Diffie added, “I remember being asked to be a member of the Opry, and it was like a dream. And it still feels like a dream, even to this day. On behalf of myself and all the Opry members past, present, and future, Luke Combs, you are now officially the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry!”
Award in hand, Combs said, “Here I am on stage with people I grew up listening to and people who have shaped me as an artist. I just want to say thank you to you guys, thank you to the Grand Ole Opry, and thank you to the fans—without you all there is no country music, there is no Grand Ole Opry. Thank you so much for everything you guys do for making this possible for guys like us on this stage. I will never forget tonight!”
The hit-maker then rounded out his Opry induction set with his first song as an Opry member, “This One’s For You.”
Backstage, Opry General Manager Sally Williams shared, “Luke Combs’ love for the Grand Ole Opry is rivaled only by country music fans’ love of his music and his fellow Opry members’ appreciation both of his artistry and his friendship. Luke and all of us at the Opry have developed an incredible relationship since he made his Opry debut less than three years ago, and we are thrilled that as of tonight he has a musical home for the rest of his career. Welcome, Luke!”
